Interview Reinhold Lang CEO & Founder De Central Days Mallorca

Reinhold Lang, CEO and Founder De Central Days Mallorca the first International Congress of digital economy will hold its first edition in the Auditorium of Palma de Mallorca on September 24th and 25th. The event will bring together companies, investors and creative minds from all branches of the digital economy. Blockchain technology, Internet of things, artificial intelligence, the future of mobility or augmented and virtual reality are the main topics in which a wide variety of industry participants will participate.

I discovered Blockchain only two years ago, but immediately understood that technology was here to stay,

When did you find out about Blockchain technology?

I found out about it only about two years ago, but I immediately knew, the technology was here to stay. It all started with Bitcoin but to me, it gets really interesting, when blockchain technology is applied to real life use cases, such as land register, for example.

Why a technology Congress in Mallorca?

There are actually a couple of reasons:

Mallorca is well known and can be reached within 2,5 hours from most airports in Europe and you usually don’t have to convince people to come here, because it’s a beautiful place. Many of our speakers stay for the entire week and do a business/leisure trip.

We have the Parc Bit here in Mallorca with many companies and about 3000 employees dedicated to new technologies such as blockchain or artificial intelligence. We wanted to give them an opportunity to have an event like ours right around the corner, and we also wanted to let the world know, that Mallorca is more than just a vacation destination.

We want to support the economy in Mallorca to become less dependent on the tourism industry. After all, you should never rely on just one thing and not everybody wants to work in tourism. We want the kids of today to have more choice on the labour market.

An agenda full of speakers, workshops and activities, what can you tell us about De:central Days?

We have many interesting speakers who will give us insights into their practical experience. There are even several very successful authors among them. We also have a startup pitch with €50.000 prize money and a couple of very cool side events, such as the Night of the De:Days, our party on the roof top terrace of the event venue.

The goal is to deliver value for the attendees of the conference by providing knowledge that they won’t find anywhere else and to give everyone the opportunity to make valuable contacts – after all a good network is one very important key to a successful business.

The startup pitch is open to all startups that cover one or several of the technologies we cover with the conference – so blockchain, artificial intelligence, internet of things and virtual & augmented reality.

What is the first message that you would leave about De:central Days to a person who reads this interview?

Join us for the first Digital Economy Conference ein Mallorca and take away interesting knowledge, valuable contacts and just have a good time! After all, a business trip to Mallorca is not the worst thing that can happen to you 😉
